Fruit Leather
Health Nuts
Fruit leather is a chewy, tasty treat that can easily be made at home with any variety of fruit that you may choose. Serving as a quick snack or small boost of energy, these simple treats will make you feel like a kid again. And by making your own, you are using less sugar then something you'd find in your local supermarket.
Recipe:
Fresh fruit of your choice (we used apples & ripe persimmons) - rinsed and peeled or unpeeled
Lemon juice
Water
Puree the fruit until it has the consistency of applesauce. Add water if needed to create desired consistency. Spread puree evenly on on dehydrator trays. If you don't have a dehydrator, use a cookie sheet (must add plastic wrap to the bottom so fruit leather doesn't stick). Dehydrate at 140 degrees for 8 to 10 hours (may take longer in an oven) or until fruit is dried to a leather consistency. Enjoy!
